Austin Pendleton is an American film, television, and stage actor, a playwright, and a theatre director and instructor. He is a Drama Desk Special Award recipient for his contributions as a "Renaissance Man of the American Theatre".
Produced Off-Broadway, his works include his adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's A Minister's Wife (Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre), Orson's Shadow (Barrow Street Theatre), Uncle Bob (Soho Playhouse), and Booth (York Theatre).
On Broadway, Pendleton was nominated for a Tony Award for Direction of the revival, The Little Foxes, starring Elizabeth Taylor (Martin Beck Theatre). Other Broadway directing credits include Spoils of War (Music Box Theatre), John Gabriel Borkham (Circle in the Square Theatre), The Runner Stumbles (Little Theatre), and Shelter (John Golden Theatre). Off-Broadway, he received an OBIE for Direction of the play, Three Sisters (Classic Stage).
